Institute of Albanology, as the first research-scientific Institute in Kosovo has a long tradition of contribution in scientific publi-cations. Actually, more than 600 volumes identify the work of the Institute that started 62 years ago to resume only 48 years ago when it launched its publishing activity. A valuable testimony of its identity is also the journal (Albanological research).

Following several common publications, this journal was profiled into three series, according to research relevant disciplines: philology, history, folklore and ethno-logy. Each of these series, so far, has come up to 44 issues, including studies of great interest on Albania’s past and culture.

Apart from paper summaries that were initially published in French and later in English, scientific scholars and researchers of the Albanological Institute became aware about the necessity for more complete publications in other foreign languages. Accordingly, in 1984 the Institute published its first issue of common series with papers selected in French language.
